Neosho, Mo. — The world lost a dearly loved soul on Monday morning, June 20, 2011, but now that Dorothy Boyd, Neosho, has soared through the blue beyond to what's next she's probably already selling raffle tickets for a good cause.

She was born in Sulpher Springs, Ark., on March 10, 1927, the daughter of George and Calla (Burnett) Brown.

She married Raymond E. Boyd in 1946, and together they raised five children. He was released from this life in 2005.

Good days to Dorothy were those she spent helping others, so every day was a good day. She often said she was amazed people were so good to her, but she didn't understand they were treating her like she treated them.

She was honest to a fault ("Was it Tuesday or Wednesday when she dropped by? I believe it was Wednesday, since I was in town on Tuesday morning…"). Her coffeepot was always on, ready for drop-in company, and she couldn't sit without her hands busy with tatting thread or yarn.

She lived a life marked by humor and compassion, exceeded only by her enormous love for her family and friends.

Those dedicated to carrying on her memory include: daughters Elaine (Merle Dean) Jones, Veda (Jimmie) Jones, sons Stan, Cecil (Melba) and Michael (Vicki) Boyd; grandchildren April Regan, Landon Jones, Melina Peebles, Jeremiah Jones, Morgan Jones, Marshall Jones, great-grand children Luke, James and Noah Regan; sister Jewel Lukens, brother Jim Brown, extended family and friends. Dorothy's loved ones request that people carry on her legacy of compassion. Be kind to one another. Thank you, Dorothy, for the years of love and laughter.

Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, at the Clark Funeral Home Chapel of Memories with the Rev. Buddy Funk officiating. Interment will be at the Butler Creek Cemetery in Sulphur Springs.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Tuesday.

The family has requested that memorial contributions in Dorothy's memory be made to the non-profit Butler Cemetery Association in care of Clark Funeral Home, P.O. Box 66, Neosho, 64850.

Arrangements are under the direction of Clark Funeral Home, Neosho.
