Surviving is his wife, Kay Brown of rural Rushville; five children, Donald Jason Brown of Brookfield, Mo., David Clayton Brown of Macomb, Denise Renee Brown (husband Bill) Wilson of Richmond, Va., Dana Matthew (wife, Sheila) Brown of Beardstown and Dale Andrew (wife, Lisa) Brown of rural Rushville; 12 grandchildren, Jason Ryan (wife, Emily) Brown, Robin Brown (companion, Jerry Sanders) and Nate Dawson (companion, Kristi Huggins), all of Beardstown, Jessi (husband, Ryan) Prentice of Rochester, Megan Brown (companion, Dustin Guntle) of Macon, Seth Brown and Scott Warner, both of Brookfield, Mo., Adam Brown (companion, Faith Fletcher) of Macomb, Jeremy Brown and Alisha Brown, both of Kansas City, Mo., Eva (husband, Rob) Hastings of Bentonville and Jamie Spears (companion, Tye Shreves) of Abingdon; and six great-grandchildren, Kelsi, Mason, Owen, Alexis, Wyatt and Kamdyn. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, James; and two sisters, Ruth and Edith.
Earl attended Beardstown High School and was employed with Burlington-Northern-Santa Fe Railroad for 42 years until his retirement in 1997. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapping, drag racing and gardening. His true passion was playing country music with his bass guitar in several bands including "Burr Smith and Friends."
Services were entrusted to Sager Funeral Home of Beardstown, Illinois.
