OBITUARY
Anna Dow was born at New Market, New Hampshire Nov. 14, 1821 and died at the home of her son John H. Brown near Lamont, Iowa, April 20, 1908, aged 86 years, 5 months and 16 days. She came to Iowa in the year 1864, therefore experienced the hardships incident to early pioneer life as she was one of the early pioneers.
She was married to David M. Brown in 1844 and they walked life's pathway together for about 55 years as he departed this life about 9 years ago. There were 10 children born to this union, three of whom died in infancy. Fannie died about 20 years ago, Edmund departed this life about 4 years since, thus one half of the children and the father and the mother have passed to the Spirit World leaving to mourn their loss, D. M. Brown of Lamont, Mrs. Sexton of Sackville, Nebr., Mrs. O. H. Bush of Andrews, S. Dak., John Brown of Lamont and Mrs. Burk of Waterloo, Ia., a number of grandchildren and a host of friends.
She was converted in the morning of her childhood and united with the M. E. church and was with her husband identified with the Free baptist church and lived a consistant Christian life until she joined the church triumphant.
The funeral service was conducted at the Free Baptist church May 2nd by Rev. A. D. Tucker, pastor of the church. The text was taken fron Psalms 17:15 "As for me I will behold thy face in Righteousness and I shall be satisfied when I awaken in thy likeness". The respect with which she was held was manifested by the large number of friends who attended the service and followed her to her last resting place. Internment at the Oak Hill Cemetery. Thus another pioneer has left us.
