Newspaper report from accident that took his life.
12 Sep 1939: CRYSTAL SPRINGS YOUTH KILLED BY HIT-RUN DRIVER - Albert B. Brown Found Dead on Road 23, On Way To See Mother -- An early morning highway accident yesterday claimed the life of Albert B. Brown, Crystal Springs youth, who was found dead on Highway 23 near Knights Station about 2:30 o'clock. He was about 25 years of age. The youth according to Constable Ward Holloway, apparently had been killed by a hit and run driver. According to information learned from officials yesterday the young man had been in Washington for some time and arrived about a week ago for a visit with relatives around Plant City and Tampa. He had left Sulfer Springs near Tampa to visit his mother, Mrs. E.H. Brown at Crystal Springs, and apparently was hitch-hiking to his mother's home when struck by the truck. From the marks on his body, it is the opinion of local officers that it was the body of a truck that hit him and not an auto-mobile. His jaw was broken and his head and shoulder bruised. Aldo H. Watkins, justice of the peace stated that the youth was found by H.D. Crabtree of Dade City and Grady E. and Herbert Peeples of Zephyrhills. An inquest will be held this afternoon at 3 o'clock, Mr. Watkins said.
