Doris (Dorie) Helen Brown 87, of Casper passed away on June 1, 2012, at her home with her family surrounding her after a long battle with cancer.

Doris was born in Wheatland on Oct. 2, 1939. Her family lived most of their time in Douglas, moving to a coal mine toward Gillette for a short time, then back to Douglas.

Doris met and married George Brown in June of 1957. They moved to Nebraska, where they resided until moving back to Douglas in 1967. Living there for a short time, they moved their family to Casper. Doris worked at the state Children's Home for several years. She then worked and retired from New Directions in Casper. Doris loved working with the teens and trying to make a difference in their lives.

Doris was a long-standing Christian and active in her faith. She loved getting together with her family for holidays and barbecues, watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren play, making craft projects, going on trips and spending time with her husband. She will be missed the most for her ability to make others laugh and to make them feel important.

Doris was preceded in death by her infant son Clyde (Chippy) Daniel Brown, infant granddaughter Theresa Wollich and her parents Bertha (Bert) and Paul Griffitts.

She is survived by her loving husband, George Brown, of almost 55 years; children Casandra (Cassie) Leslie, Velvet (John) Herman, Kelleen (Kelly) Brown, Patrick (Pat) Brown and Robin (Bobbie) Brown, all of Casper; 14grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters Clara Tomasek of Colorado and Lavina Jackson of Casper; brothers Daniel Griffitts of New Mexico and Calvin Griffitts of Nebraska; and several nieces and nephews.

"Mom (Granny) you are so loved and will be greatly missed by all."

Visitation will be at Set Free Ministries, 320 E. K. St., Casper, from 10 a.m. until service time. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 6, at Set Free Ministries. Burial will be in Oregon Trail State Veteran Cemetery in Evansville.
