Jean E. Ballok, 56, of Coventry, the wife of Robert A. Ballok, died on Sunday (August 16, 2009) at St. Francis Hospital after a courageous battle with leukemia.


Born in Manchester, she was the daughter of the late Thomas R. and Lila K. (Williams) Brown.


She was proud to be employed as a paraeducator at Coventry Grammar School. Jean loved to read, travel, and especially loved spending time with her family.


Besides her husband, she is survived by her children, Melissa M. and her husband Guy T. Fortunato of Somers, and Robert A. Ballok, Jr. of Coventry, and her grandson, who was her pride and joy, Thomas A. Fortunato. She is also survived by her siblings, Maureen Kilbourn and her husband Thomas, Stephen J. Brown and his wife Jane, Geraldine Koba and her husband John, and Catherine Gonzales and her husband Stephen; her sister-in-law, Joann Brown and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Thomas R. Brown, Jr.


Family and friends may call at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center Street, Manchester, on Thursday, August 20, 2009 from 4-8 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Friday at 9:45 a.m. from the Funeral Home with a service at 11 a.m. at First Congregational Church of Coventry 1171 Main Street, Coventry, CT.
Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Coventry.
