Alex J Brown Jr, 18, son of Mr and Mrs Alex J Brown of Chattanooga, was killed Friday, January 21 when a Liberator bomber crashed in flames while taking off at the Camp Kearney, California Naval Auxiliary Air Station. The boy's body was sent to Chattanooga for burial.
Seaman Brown, who was tail gunner on a naval plane, volunteered for service September, 1942. He was born in this county, near Pleasant Hill and went with his parents to make their home in Chattanooga when he was 8.
