DANVILLE — Louise M. Brown, 94, of Red Lane, and a guest at Emmanuel Center, passed away Sunday, Oct. 12, 2014, at Emmanuel.
She was born Aug. 30, 1920, in Ashland, a daughter of the late Walter Reichard and Kathryn (Hardknock) Weidensaul.
Louise graduated from Ashland High School in 1938 and continued her education at the Bryn Mawr School of Nursing.
Mrs. Brown served as president of the Montour County Medical Auxiliary and was also president of the PTA.
Louise enjoyed baking, picnics at Knoebels, the ocean, particularly Long Beach Island, N.J., playing bridge, making Halloween costumes and reading, especially the Philadelphia Inquirer. She was a devout Penn State football fan.
Louise was a member of Christ Memorial Episcopal Church in Danville.
She is survived by a son, John, and his wife, Peggy Brown, of Jamestown, two daughters, Laure Brown, of Danville, and Sandy and her husband, Richard Crabtree, of Maine, six grandchildren, Michele, Chris, Paul, Andy, Tim and Molly, and 10 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, Dr. Harold E. Brown, director of the urology department at Geisinger Medical Center, and a brother, William Reichard.
At the request of Louise private funeral services were held at the Brady Funeral Home with the Rev. Mary Schmotzer, pastor of Shiloh United Church of Christ in Danville, officiating.
