Florence O. Blackburn, 97, of McAlester, died Wednesday at a local nursing home. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Mills Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. James Blackwell will officiate assisted by Rev. Robert Tate. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery under the direction of Mills Funeral Home of McAlester. Born April 8, 1898 in Brawley, Ark., to Mathew H. and Minnie Brown, she married Jasper Blackburn on July 1, 1916 in Crawley, Ark. She had lived in McAlester since 1954, working in the Medical Arts Building for many years, was a seamstress, and a member of the Victory Park Baptist Church. Survivors include eight nieces, one nephew; special Friend, Mary Smart of McAlester; life-long friends, James and Carolyn Blackwell of Beaumont, Texas; and friends at the Heart to Heart Home Health. She was preceded in death by her husband; a son; and a daughter, Robbye Blackburn.
