Charles "Charlie" Brown
Funeral services for Charles "Charlie" Brown, 71, of Carnegie were held 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at the Church of the Nazarene in Carnegie with Rev. Chip Perkins, pastor, officiating.
He was born September 11, 1938 in Litchfield, Michigan to Edward Bud and Dora (Cole) Brown and died Friday, November 13, 2009 at the Carnegie Tri-County Municipal Hospital.
Charlie lived in Alfalfa several years and moved to Carnegie in 1973. He married Francis Oleta Atchley on September 2, 1959 in Wichita Falls, Texas. Charlie served with the U.S. Army and he has been in the roofing business since returning from the service. He loved family so much spending time with grandkids and great-grandchildren. Charlie loved sports. Golfing was a passion. He never missed a ball game as long as he was able to attend.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Adam Charles Brock; his parents; brothers, Eugene Barnett and James Brown; and sisters, Marjorie Gunst and Molly Crall.
Survivors include his wife, Francis Oleta Brown of the home; two sons, Billy Brown and wife Teri of Chickasha and Charles Brown, Jr. and wife Christine of Mountain View; three daughters, Betty Irene Lopez and husband Adolfo of Mountain View, Brenda Ruth Brock and husband Allen, of Carnegie, Margie Ann Acosta and husband, Manuel, Grand Prairie, Texas; 19 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; step-father, Ed Crall of Litchfield, Michigan; two brothers, Richard Brown and wife, Terry, Frankfort, Indiana and Roger Brown and wife, Missy, Frankfort, Indiana; five sisters, Betty Laffoon, Barbara Phizer, Edith Hendricks, Geneva Bowles and Brenda Davis all of Frankfort, Indiana.
Burial was in the Carnegie Cemetery under the direction of Ray & Martha's Funeral Home of Carnegie.
