Adriana "Audrey" Baratta Brown was born in Madera to Italian immigrants, Joseph & Rinalda Baratta, who came from Montegrosso, Italy in 1905; joining others who came to work at the Italian Swiss Colony Winery.

The only daughter in a family with four sons [Guido, Jack, Bruno and William], they all worked diligently to establish their own vegetable farm. This eventually became the Baratta & Sons Farm.

Audrey's first experience in 'paid employment' was working for the Oberti Olive Co.. Then she was on to what was a fun filled exciting life for a teenager; joining her best friends as uniformed usherettes at the new art-deco Madera Theatre. Then she was on to retail sales.

Audrey married Lacey Burliss "Tony" Brown on 21 Jan 1950 Madera. They moved to Stockton, where she continued in the retail clothing trade; working for Brown & Mahin, an upscale dept. store where she modeled in fashion shows and appeared in their print ads. Audrey and Tony eventually moved back to Madera, where she resumed working for the James Department Store until her retirement.

Audrey was widowed in 1981 and was survived by her brother, William, of Madera, sister-in-law, Olga Poletti Baratta of Richmond, and nine nieces and one nephew.

Interment: Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum, Madera, California.

Arrangements: Jay Chapel, Madera, California.
