There is disagreement as to the year Malinda A. Brown was born between the 1900 census and her death certificate. I have chosen to follow the census record made during her life. Her death certificate states 1847.
Malinda, daughter of John Brown and Martha Williams, was married first to Joseph Vinyard in Madison Co. IL, 2 February 1865. The 1873 plat map for Leef Township in Madison Co. shows that they owned a farm north of Grantfork in that township. Joseph died 17 January 1876 in Madison Co.- see the link for his burial information.
Malinda Brown Vineyard married Henry Bise 27 January 1879 in Madison Co., IL. According to Bise family historians, Henry died 15 April 1881.
Malinda continued to live on a farm in Leef Township (Grantfork), Madison Co. IL, with her son, George. After his death, she went to Edwardsville (same county) to live with her sons. Eventually, she lived in St. Louis with her daughter by Henry Bise, Adelaid Willman.
According to her death certificate, Malinda died as the result of falling down a flight of 11 stairs in the early morning hours of Dec. 28, 1939, at home at 3831 Iowa in St. Louis. She suffered a broken back and a concussion and died at City Hospital No. 1.
Malinda was the last to die of the children of John and Martha Williams Brown.
