Dorsie M. Brown, 71 of LaSalle, died at 7:16 p.m. Sunday at Ebied Hospice of Sylvania. He had been in poor health since January.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Rupp Funeral Home where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday. Rev. Lawrence Detruf, pastor of the First Church of God will officiate with burial to follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle.
Born January 17, 1942 in Sunbright, Tennessee, he was the son of Roy and Eula (Branstetter) Brown. He married Betty J. Cordrey on September 5, 1967 in Monroe. She preceded him in death on July 30, 2007.
Dorsie was employed by Huron Valley Steel as plant manager for 27 years and was also the owner of Brown Maintenance until retiring in 2006.
He enjoyed golfing, hunting, traveling, family gatherings and cars, especially Mustangs and Thunderbirds.
Surviving are his children Monica D. (Mark) Greer of Monroe, Dorsey J. (Denise) Brown of Temperance, John J. (Anna) Brown of Monroe, Michelle D. (Robert) Kitts of LaSalle, Jeffrey A. (Julie) Brown of Toledo and Robin G. (Gary) Kaschynyc of LaSalle; brother Allen F. Kiser of Erie; sisters Vickie Tickle of Chicago and Cathy (Gilbert) Schmidtz of League City, Texas; 16 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife Betty he was preceded in death by a granddaughter Amanda L. Brown; brothers William Daniel Brown and Kenneth Lee Kiser, his parents and his step father William Victor Kiser.
