Local Woman Is Victim of Paralytic Stroke

Mrs.James Brown, 65, died at her home on Second street Tuesday of last week, Feb. 14.Mrs. Brown had been ill for more than a year,but the immediate cause of her death was attributed to a stroke of paralysis suffered a short time before her death.

Mrs. Brown was a well known woman and a devout Christian. She had been a member of the Paintsville Christian Church for many years.

Mrs. Brown was a member of a prominent family. She was a daughter of the late G. W. Rice who died in Paintsville many years ago.

Funeral services were held in the Christian Church Thursday afternoon of last week, in charge of Rev.Cecil Platt, pastor of the church, assisted by Rev.Townsend, pastor of the First M. E. Church.

The choir sang "The Home of the Soul" and "Never Alone."

Burial in the Wells Cemetery in Bridgford.

Her husband, an employee of the Sandy Valley, died less than a year ago.

She is survived by three daughters, Miss Rebecca Brown, of Paintsville; Mrs.P.O. Polley, Jenkins, Ky., and Mrs.Charles Lyons, of Michigan; one son, Mitchell Brown, of Paintsville.

She is also survived by one brother, J.A. Rice, Paintsville, and Mrs.James Akers, Wurtland,Ky.
