ADRIAN - Ruth Erysl Brown, 100, died Saturday, Oct. 21, 2006, in Hereford.
Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Memorial Park Cemetery in Vega with the Rev. Bob Miller, pastor of South Georgia Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers of Vega.

Mrs. Brown was born Dec. 29, 1905, in Pankey to Albert James Horton and Lillie Henrietta Cleveland Horton. The family moved to Camp Springs in 1907. She lived there until she married Floyd Milton Brown on Sept. 19, 1930, in Vega. They made their home in Adrian. She moved from Adrian to Crestview Assisted Living in Amarillo in 1996.

She attended West Texas State College in Canyon, North Texas Woman's College in Denton and the University of New Mexico at Las Vegas, N.M. Prior to her marriage, she taught school for six years.

In 1925 at a revival meeting in Denton held by George W. Truitt, she made her profession of faith. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church, Adrian.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on April 22, 1978; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Maxine Brown, on May 27, 1998; three sisters; and seven brothers.

Survivors include two sons, James Floyd Brown and Billy Don Brown and wife Elizabeth, all of Adrian; four grandchildren Jody Jim Brown, M.D. and Amy Elizabeth Brown, both of Houston, Dennis Don Brown and wife Sarita of Broken Arrow, Okla., and Peter Lyn Brown of Dallas; six great-grandchildren, Maston Floyd Brown of Tulsa, Okla., Katherine Lorraine Brown of Stillwater, Okla., Karen Elizabeth Brown of Broken Arrow and Hannah Ruth Roy, William David Roy and Megan Elizabeth Roy, all of Houston; a sister-in-law, Stella Horton of Adrian; three nieces; and nine nephews.

The family suggests memorials be to Samaritan Hospice, 400 Ranger Drive, Hereford, TX 79045 or King's Manor Methodist Home, 400 Ranger Drive, Hereford, TX 79045.

The body will be available for viewing from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
