Emma Pearl Purcell, daughter of Samuel Senet Purcell,Sr. and Rebecca Ann Owens was married to Russell Wilson Brown son of Josiah M.(Joe) Brown and Dora Susan Sutton Brown in Rockcastle Co. KY. Emma was the great granddaughter of John W. Purcell who was a settler in Rockcastle Co. Ky that had came from Tennessee in 1835 with his wife Sallie and farmed land and brought 100 slaves with him per family history. Emma's father, Samuel Senet Purcell, Sr. was born in 1873, the son of James T. and Mary Elizabeth Adams Purcell. He farmed several hundred acres in the Ottawa area. He married Rebecca Ann Owens in 1900 and they had 5 children. She died in 1919, and he later married Ola Ping McAlister, with whom he had 3 children. He died in 1960.
