Died at age 102. Clara was born in Baltimore, where her mother was born in 1780 and where her husband, his father and his grandfather had been citizens. Her father was Frederick William Brune, Sr. She was married in 1839 at Old St. Paul's Protestant Episcopal Church to George William Brown. Her husband was Mayor of Baltimore when the Civil War broke out and led the Sixth Massachusetts along Pratt street when the Union regiment was mobbed in Baltimore in 1861.
Only two of Mrs. Brown's seven children survived her. Arthur George Brown, senior member of the law firm of Brown, Marshall, Brune and Thomas, and Mrs. Edward M. Hartwell of Boston.
