Clarence Verdun Daniels Brown, known to family and friends as "CD" left us and joined his eternal family on July 20, 2004 from congestive heart failure. He died at home surrounded by his loving family. On January 5, 1919 he was born in Farr West, Utah to loving parents Almon Dell Brown and Eva Francilda Geddes and was the sixth child in a family of seven. He lived in Farr West and North Ogden. CD was educated in Weber County schools and graduated from Weber High School, Weber State College and Utah State Agricultural College in 1950 with a Bachelor of Science Degree. At Utah State he belonged to Alpha Zeta Fraternity. CD served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Eastern States Mission. He was an active member in the Farr West Ward and the North Ogden 11th Ward. He was a High Priest. On August 6, 1942 he enlisted in the Marine Corps. He served in the South Pacific Theatre of War with the 3rd Marine Division, 12th Marine Regiment on Bougainville, Guadalcanal, Guam and Iwo Jima and was wounded July 21, 1944 on the Guam Beachhead. He was discharged September 20, 1945. On June 4, 1945 he married Elaine Hancock in the Salt Lake LDS Temple with Jesse M. Knight officiating. From this union of 59 years three special children were born: Ronald Dell (Ginger) Brown, David E. (Robin) Brown and Suzan Elaine (Tim) Hancock; 13 grandchildren, Ryan, Michael and Lonnie Brown, Matt (Cheridan) Brown, Melissa (Brandon) Bodily, Casey, Ashley and Sarah Brown, Aimee (Misha) Zamani, Michael and Mark Murphy; Melissa (David) Hancock Taylor and Jess Hancock; and six great grandchildren, Cort, Cooper, Camen Brown, Bridger and Breckell Bodily, and Conner Jet Zamani. CD was a great grandpa to all of you. CD had a special place in his heart for his in-laws, Ginger and Robin Brown and Tim Hancock. CD was employed for 31 years as a materials engineer for the Bureau of Reclamation and was instrumental in the construction of dams and water projects in Utah, Nevada, Wyoming and California. After retirement he worked for contractors, city developments and Pine View Water as an inspector. CD is survived by his wife and three children and their spouses; brothers, Geddes D. Brown, Roland D. Brown, sister Leona Hansen and many special nieces and nephews. CD was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Almon D. Brown and Harold D. Brown; sister Thelma Holmes; and grandson Dell Daniels Brown. "Soar with the eagles for you have been the wind under our wings". We all love you and we will miss you.
