Eleanor "Frances" Browning Atkins, 77, of Hopewell, passed away on Monday, March 25, after an extended illness. She was born July 20, 1935, in Riley Camp, Logan County, W.Va. She was the daughter of George Washington and Iva Myrtle Perry Browning. Frances graduated from Man High School with honors. In high school she was in all state band (flute, French horn, and as a majorette).

She worked for many years for Marriott Corporation as a server, while her family of six children was in school. Her true joys in life were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed crafts with her daughters, and working with flowers in the garden. If you knew her, you knew that her favorite colors were light pink and blue. She was a really good cook, you never went away hungry.

Surviving her are her children: Darrell (Arlene) of Middletown, Md., Danny of Warrenton, Gail (Ron) Malin of Fulton, Md., Shelley Strosnider of Hopewell and Dirk of Hopewell; eight grandchildren, Ashley (Justin) Palmer, Danny and Amanda Atkins, Mitchell and Michael Malin, Shana Smith, Marisa and Madison Strosnider; and three great-grandchildren, Kulen, Keelee and Kayson Kyle; one sibling, Ruth (Harold) Tomblin of Man, W.Va.; brothers-in-law, David (Mary) and Bob (Darlene) Atkins of Ohio; and four sisters-in-law, Joyce Atkins, Betty Atkins, Clara Browning, Judy (Danny) Booth of N.C.; and many other nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; her daughter, Darla (Dee) Smith; and grandson, Kyle Smith. Also preceding her in death her sister, Stellis Vance; and brothers, Leslie Browning and Luther Browning. She will be interned at Arlington National Cemetery joining her husband.
