Birth: Jan. 24, 1834
New York, USA
Death: Mar. 11, 1907
Elva
DeKalb County
Illinois, USA

Second son of John S. and Sarah Ann (Green) Brown, born in Geneseo, Livingston Co, NY, 24 January 1834. He never married, (perhaps because he was the target of much emotional abuse by his mother since he was the namesake of his father, whom she hated, according to the divorce record). Farmed with his father in South Grove, DeKalb Co., IL. Joined the Union Army Co C., 52nd Illinois Inf. under the captaincy of his father for Civil War service. After the war, he lived in Iowa for a time. Near the end of his life, he was a resident of the Soldiers and Sailors home in Quincy, IL., but "dropped dead on the streets of Elva" on a visit, according to the March 13 death notice in the Sycamore True Republican. He is buried adjacent to his parents.
