Catherine Josephine Broughman Paitsel, age 86, of 803 Concord Street, Selma, Virginia died Monday, February 26, 2007 at her residence. Born May 26, 1920 in Clifton Forge, Virginia, Mrs. Paitsel was a daughter of the late Ollie Alexander Broughman and Lottie Mary Thompson Broughman. She was a homemaker throughout her life and was very active with her family as a former scout leader, former cheerleading coach, and by taking them to countless ballgames. She was a member of Selma Church of the Brethren and a member of the Clifton Forge Women of the Moose Chapter No. 22. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Edward Paitsel, a sister, five brothers, a step-daughter, Phyllis Kay, and two step-sons; Pete Paitsel and Billy Paitsel. She is survived by five daughters; Caroline Morgan and husband Lee Roy of Clifton Forge, Patsy Broughman and husband Eugene Broughman, Jr. of Virginia Beach, Linda Spinks and husband Vernon of Selma, Sheila McKinley of Newburgh, IN, and Lisa Sawyer of Virginia Beach, a sister, Edna Poole of Selma, four brothers; Glen Broughman of Richmond, Raymond Broughman of Richmond, Eugene Broughman of Lexington, and Robert Broughman of Richmond, seventeen grandchildren; Eddie Morgan, Brent Morgan, Andrea Collins, Chris Spinks, Steven Spinks, Holly Spinks, Carol Moore, Jason Johnson, Karen Johnson, Kimberly Wheat, Jeanette Unroe, Randy Broughman, Jared McKinley, Lauren McKinley, Ryan McKinley, Dustin Estes, and Meagan Estes, fourteen step grandchildren, twenty-seven great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be held Friday, March 2, 2007 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Ed West officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Clifton Forge. Pallbearers will be the grandsons; Brent Morgan, Eddie Morgan, Chris Spinks, Steven Spinks, Randy Broughman, Dustin Estes, and Jared McKinley. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 7:00 PM until 8:30 PM at the funeral home.
