ONALASKA — Dorothy C. Wiedman, 97, of Onalaska, died Saturday, April 2, 2011, at the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center.

She was born on Dec. 27, 1913, in Tilden, Neb. to Gabriel and Mathilda Watland. Dorothy was well-known in the area for starting the meatball suppers at the Dakota and La Crescent United Methodist Churches. Her hobbies were crocheting and making crafts as gifts, but her main hobby was volunteering. She was a member of the Railroad Women's Club where she served as President, the Legion Auxiliary for over 50 years, the White Shrine Auxiliary for over 50 years, the La Crosse Chapter of the Eastern Star Number 23, Associate Matron the Eastern Star Number 71, Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, and the Social Order of the Bouciant.

She is survived by three sons, Maynard (Jean) Brostrom of La Crosse, Larry (Shirley) Brostrom of Winona, Minn., and Richard Brostrom of Thailand; nine grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; numerous step-children; step-grandchildren; and step-great-grandchildren; a sister, Sofia Selchert of Estelline, S.D.; and a half-brother, Marion "Slim"Johnson of Menomonie, Wis.

She was preceded in death by her three husbands, Harold Brostrom, William Wiedman and William Thicke; a son, LeMoin Brostrom; her parents; and ten sisters and brothers.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 7, at 11 a.m., at the La Crescent United Methodist Church. Pastor Greg Nelson will officiate. Burial will be in the Riverview Cemetery, Downsville, Wis.
