Jennette I. Calvert, age 92, a resident of Rocky Knoll Health Care Facility in Plymouth, passed away peacefully on Monday September 5, 2011 at St. Nicholas Hospital.
She was born on March 19th, 1919 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of the late Robert and Edna (Lawrence) Brosius. On January 18, 1947, Jennette was united in marriage to David W. Calvert in Sheboygan. She and David spent many enjoyable years together building their own home on Middle Road in the Town of Wilson. David preceded her in death in 1982.
In Jennette's earlier years she was a "Rosie the riveter" at the Manitowoc Shipyards, which she felt was her contribution to the WWII effort. She was the head bookkeeper for several businesses in the Sheboygan area, which included J.J. Koepsell Company, Panzer Lumber Company, Lake to Lake Dairy and the Petersen Paint Company. In her later years she enjoyed product demonstrations at the local grocery stores.
Jennette was a devoted mother who delighted in her children and grandchildren. She loved going up north and spending time at her son's cottage in Marinette County, which she was extremely proud to say she helped build. Jennette was an avid reader; she enjoyed playing bingo and loved watching cardinals in her daughter's gardens. Jennette was a former member of the Turners Card Club, Red Hatters Club and a devoted Packer fan.
Jennette is survived by her two daughters, Ruth (Gary) Otte, Plymouth; Judy Calvert, Sheboygan; and one son, James (Rachel) Calvert, Sheboygan; 4 step children; Carol Weigers, Mequon; Jean Schaefer, Germantown; Denis (Barb) Calvert, Florida; and Richard (Ann) Calvert, Oostburg; 6 grandchildren: Vicki Meyer, Plymouth; Sue (Phil) Roberts, Appleton; Garett Mehan, Sheboygan Falls; Emily Calvert, Tennesse; Kyle Calvert, Sheboygan; and Kory Calvert, Sheboygan; 6 great grandchildren: TJ, David, Christina, Maria, Nicole, and Shawn; and 3 great - great grandchildren: Perla, Enrique and Emilio. She is also survived by many step grandchildren, step great grandchildren and step great - great grandchildren.
A celebration of Jennette's life will be held on Friday, (Sept. 9th) at 11:00 A.M. at the Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth. Rev. Thomas Fleischmann, pastor of the Sheboygan County Health Care Facilities, will officiate. Friends may call at the Suchon Funeral Home on Thursday from 4-6:30 P.M. and on Friday morning from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services. Cremation will follow the services and inurnment will be in Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Sheboygan.
