Former Alaska resident Thomas ''Tom'' Harold Brose, 40, was found dead April 11, 1998, in San Antonio, Texas. He was a homicide victim. A burial Mass was held May 1 at Our Lady of the Lake Church in Seattle. Burial was at Lake View Cemetery in Seattle with his father.
Mr. Brose was born July 19, 1957, in St. Louis. He attended grade school and high school in Seattle, Mexico City, England, British Columbia and Window Rock, Ariz. He attended college at Arizona State University and in Fairbanks and Valdez. Mr. Brose moved to Alaska in 1978 and most recently lived in Valdez. He also lived in Fairbanks, Anchorage, Nome, Prudhoe Bay and Savonnga. He left the state about two years ago. Mr. Brose was a member of Laborers International Union of North America for about 20 years. He worked in places throughout Alaska. He mainly worked as a general laborer and did work on the pipeline. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, discussing politics and watching sporting events. According to his family, Mr. Broze was a good friend to many, was an ambitious and hard worker, and will be greatly missed by his family. He was highly respected with other laborers and managers within the union, his mother said. He was a very outgoing, jolly kind of person, she added.
Mr. Brose is survived by his mother, Mary Brose Burke of Seattle; brother, Michael Brose of Alaska; and sister, Anne Hendrickson of Seattle. He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Brose. Arrangements were by Olinger Mortuary in San Antonio.
