Audrey Brooks Akin, 92, passed away Tuesday, December 24, 2003 in Bethany, Oklahoma. She was born March 18, 1911 in McAlester, Oklahoma. Her parents were James William Brooks and Betty Aurora Gray Brooks. Audrey was a long standing member of Evangel. She volunteered for many years at the Christian Television Studio, Channel 14. Audrey loved to play the organ and was involved in her teenage nieces lives after moving here from Los Angeles, California in 1965. She worked in a doctors office in Los Angeles.
Audrey moved to Oklahoma City after the death of her first husband, Joe Peabody. She was also preceded in death by her second husband, Elmer Akin. Audrey is survived by 7 nieces and nephews: Jim Russell, Ida Mae Luttrell, Priscilla Richter, Barbara Jensen, Perry Barnhart, Patricia Mousher and Lois Kauble. She is also survived by grand nieces and nephews. Memorial donations can be made to the Childrens Center in Bethany. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 27, at the chapel at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery, 7801 NW Expressway. Guardian West Funeral Directors.
