Imogene Alexander, 83, died on Friday, December 7, 2007 at her home in Lawton. She was born on February 3, 1924 in Brownfield, TX to David and Cora (Campbell) Brooks.
A graveside service is scheduled for 1 PM on Friday, December 14, 2007 at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Pastor Stan Baker officiating.
Imogene was raised and attended school in Marlow, OK. She met James F. Alexander and they were married in 1941 in Marlow. Imogene and James moved several times over the next few years, including living in Germany from 1955-1958. In 1960, Imogene moved her young family to Lawton while James finished his military career stationed at Ft Sill.
She spent the next 40 years taking care of her husband and family, doing volunteer work at Comanche County Memorial Hospital, Northside Baptist Church, and helping the county election board register new voters. Imogene remained active in her church and the community until her health slowed her down in the last few months. She was a devoted wife and mother, and enjoyed being involved with any charity or activity that allowed her to work with the community. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband James, and two brothers.
Her survivors include her son James D. Alexander of Lawton; daughter Carole Jean Stacks and husband Bob of Topeka, KS; their children Bobby and Alexandria (Alex), also of Topeka; sister Emile Governor of Los Angeles, CA; and brother Ed Brooks of Dallas, TX.
