Dr. Church Brooks Dead;
Dr. Church Brooks, for many years prominent in the affairs of southwest Callaway County, died at his home at Gruthie Thursday morning at 12:05 o'clock of Senile Debility.
Dr. Brooks was a native of Callaway County and was born on January 16, 1825, on the "Old Brooks Place" on the Jefferson City Road.
He leaves four sons and daughters; Mrs. Charles Fisher of Fulton, Mrs. Annie Selby, John and James Brooks, one son Edward, having died several years ago.
The deceased was a member of the Presbyterian Church for many years. He was a good, Christian gentleman and leaves a host of friends who extend their sympathy to the bereaved family.
The remains will be laid to rest in New Bloomfield churchyard on Friday afternoon.
