Wife of Thomas Barton Crawford and Isaac Kneeland. Daughter of Edward Brooks and Rhoda Emeline Hamblin.
Funeral services for Mrs. E. M. Kneeland were held at the home of her daughter, Mrs. H. S. Logan, Albany, Ore., Sept. 29, 1917, at 2 p.m. Dr. Wallace Howe Lee officiated.
Eleanor Maria Brooks was born at Wilna, New York July 8, 1839. She entered into her well earned rest Sept. 27, 1917.
She moved with her parents to Wis. in 1855, married Thomas Barton Crawford Jan. 27, 1859 at Westfield, Wis., who died in the Battle of Shilo. Three children were born to this union - James, Harvey and Lillian. On Oct 7, 1863 she married Dr. Isaac Kneeland of Franklin, New York. Their children were, Mar, Lucius, Harry and Anna. They resided in Chariton, Iowa over 20 years.
At 16 years of age she united with the Methodist Episcopal church and has ever been a devoted, faithful christian. A loving, unselfish mother, a sincere friend and neighbor, loved by all who knew her. For the past five years she has been ailing, and yet ever patient, ready and gladly obeying the summons from her Heavenly father to "come home."
Interment was made in the family burial ground at Chariton, Iowa, Oct. 2nd, 1917. The services were conducted by the pastor of the First M. E. church of that place.
She leaves to mourn her loss two daughters, three sons, three stepsons, five sisters and one brother. The pallbearers were H. L. Crawford, Little River, Kans., L. D. Kneeland, Peabody, Kans., S. P. Kneeland, Des Moines, Ia., Wm. Kneeland, Malvern, Ia., and James Kneeland, Chariton, Ia.
