Cornelius/3c Brooks was born 10 Sep 1711 at Wallingford, CT.1 Baptised 30 May 1725 at the Congregational church in Cheshire.1 He married (1), Jerusha Mattoon of Wallingford, daughter of John Mattoon and Jerusha Hall.1 She died at Wallingford 15 Aug 1741.1 He married (2) Sarah Hotchkiss, daughter of John Hotchkiss and Miriam Wood, and widow of Austin Bristol.1 Mentioned in Waterbury tax lists from 1753, when his property there was rated at £18.2 Wallingford deputy to the General Assemblies of May-Jun 1757 and Mar 1758.3 Ensign of the south company, May 1759; lieutenant, May 1760; captain, May 1764.4 He died 25 Dec 1783 (c.r., g.s.) at age 72.1 Buried in the old graveyard, Cheshire.1
