Lavina "Sherry" Hawkes, 90, passed away December 6, 2013 at Emeritus Silver Lake in Everett, Washington.
She was born February 25, 1923 in Hitchcock, South Dakota the oldest child of Esther and Edgar Brooks. A depression era childhood with eight siblings and many moves ended with her high school graduation in Hamilton, Montana. Before marriage, she worked as a bank bookkeeper in Montana and Seattle. She married Robert Hawkes after WWII and raised six children in north Seattle.
Sherry was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Robert Hawkes, her son, John Hawkes, her brothers, Floyd and Leroy Brooks and one sister, Florence Twogood. She is survived by five children; Pam Hauff, Linda Capps, David Hawkes, Cheryl Erickson and Teresa Hawkes, thirteen grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and three sisters; Evelyn Fernandez, Lucille Muir and Shirley Lykstad.
Sherry will be remembered for her generous heart and compassion for children and those in need. She was a wonderfully supportive mother and friend.
Services will be held at Purdy & Walters at Floral Hills, 409 Filbert Rd, Lynnwood, WA on December 13, 2013 at 1:00 PM.
