| Birth: | Mar. 22, 1901 Waelder Gonzales County Texas, USA | | Death: | Mar. 19, 2006 San Antonio Bexar County Texas, USA | Born an only child, Mother Brooks departed this life just three days before what would've been her 105th birthday. While she was a child, her family move to San Antonio. She studied music at Our Lady of the Lake College. In 1932, she married I.H. Brooks, a railroad employee. Mr. Brooks died in 1978.
Long before there was a music director at Mount Zion First Baptist Church, there was a musician who played at all the events held there. Fay Brooks was that musician. For over five decades she played the piano and organ at church services, weddings, funerals, prayer meetings, for the junior and senior choirs and for vacation Bible school, and she somehow found time to teach piano at her home .
Aquila McGrew, a deacon at her church, said when she moved into a nursing home four years ago, she was reluctant to sit at the piano and play because she thought she needed permission. The deacon told her she still had her God-given talents and her playing could still contribute to souls being saved. Whenever she played people would always come around. They enjoyed hearing her play.
