Birth: Jun., 1887
Georgia, USA
Death: Oct. 24, 1907
Columbus
Muscogee County
Georgia, USA

Died aged 19 years, so evidently born about 1887. Son of Isham R. BROOKS by his second of three wives, Jerelina "Jerry" (GAMMELL) BROOKS. One account gives the name Clarence instead of Charles. Online database of Linwood Cemetery records shows a Clarence E. BROOKS (no dates) buried in Section A, Lot 32, but no entry for a Charles E. or other C. E. Also in A-32 is Hilden BROOKS.

"C. E. BROOKS DIES AFTER LONG ILLNESS // Mr. Charles E. BROOKS died at his residence, corner of Twenty-ninth street and Eleventh avenue, yesterday morning at five o'clock, after a long illness of Bright's disease [= nephritis]. He was nineteen years of age and was popular among all his friends. He was a son of Mr. I[sham] M. [sic - R.] BROOKS and is survived by four half-brothers and one half-sister. The funeral will take place from the residence this morning at 10 o'clock, conducted by Rev. W. T. LAMBERT. Interment will be in Linwood cemetery." [Columbus (GA) Enquirer-Sun newspaper, Friday, 25 OCT 1907, p. 2.]

"FUNERAL OF MR. C. E. BROOKS. // The funeral of Mr. Charles E. BROOKS, whose death occurred Thursday morning at his residence, corner of Twenty-ninth street and Eleventh avenue from Bright's disease, took place yesterday morning at 10 o'clock from the late residence, the services being conducted by Rev. W. T. LAMBERT. Interment was in Linwood cemetery. The following gentlemen were the pall bearers: Messrs. William REDD, Jr., Van MARCUS, *G[eorge] P. HUNTER, T. T. ROBINSON, J. T. BLACK and W. B. RYDER." [Columbus (GA) Enquirer-Sun newspaper, Saturday, 26 OCT 1907, p. 6.]

*George P. HUNTER is buried at Midway Methodist Cemetery, where Isham R. BROOKS is also buried - he is probably the father of Hilden/Helen. Isham's first wife was a HUNTER. Rev. W. T. LAMBERT was the minister at Midway Methodist.
