She was born Thursday, Jan. 5, 1933, in Albany to Emert Leon and Lois Anne (Vandenburg) Brooks. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church and was a children's church leader and women's ministry. She attended schools at Wade, Bray, Beames and Bokchito. She finished four years at Southeastern Oklahoma State University with a bachelor's degree in education.

Kathleen married Buford Burgess on Oct. 12, 1950, and they had six children. Later in life, she married James Doyle of Hartshorne. Both Mr. Burgess and Mr. Doyle preceded her in death.

She enjoyed hunting, fishing, quilting, gardening and making fried pies, but most of all, she enjoyed being a mother and grandmother and was a great one.
