Ernest (Ernie) Brookins 83, of Yuba City, was born in Oakland, CA on September 14, 1927, and passed away November 10, 2010. Ernest was a lifetime resident of Sutter County, having grown up and lived in Robbins, CA until moving to Yuba City in 1989. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Juanita Brookins. Ernest served in the U.S. Army and was a Veteran of World War II. He was a 64 year member of Operating Engineers Local #3. Ernest had been a member of the Scottish Rite, Masons and Shriners for over 50 years: Enterprise Lodge No. 70 F. & A.M., Sacramento Scottish Rite Bodies, Ben Ali Temple of the Shrine, Central Sacramento Valley Shrine Club, Mid- Valley Sottish Rite Club.

After retiring from Madonna Construction, Ernest worked the rest of his life on the family farm in Robbins, CA. When he was not working on the farm, he attended to his beautiful rose garden consisting of over forty different roses. Ernest is survived by his sons: Dennis Brookins of Scott Valley, Dale Brookins of Yuba City, Craig Brookins of Yuba City, and Tracy Brookins of Mesa, AZ. He will be fondly remembered by his eight grandchildren: Troy, Richard, Tyler, Amanda, Alexandria, Victoria, Chad and Brandon; and his four great-grandchildren: Briley, Sicily, Anthony and Parker. Graveside services will be conducted on Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the Monument Hill Memorial Park, 35036 County Rd. 22, Woodland, CA. Arrangements are under the direction of the Ullrey Memorial Chapel, Yuba City, CA. Memorial contributions can be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 2425 Stockton Blvd., Sacramento, CA 95821.
