Mrs. Bridges was a life long resident of Buford, GA., born on December 13, 1911. She was the daughter of the late Lounge Calhoun Brogdon and Pairlee Dodd Brogdon. She and her cousin, Cline Brogdon, were the oldest first cousins in the Brogdon family until her death. Mrs. Bridges' work career started with Bona Allen Shoe Factory in Buford, GA. Later, she worked for Mrs. Charlie Rowe at Buford Dry Cleaners. She then pursued a career in nursing under the leadership of Dr. Harry Hutchins at Hutchins Memorial Hospital in Buford, GA., and later moved to the new Buford General Hospital where she retired after 26 years of service as a Technician in nursing. Upon her retirement from nursing, she started a pedicure business in her home. She had over 20 people a month who would come for that service. She never charged for this service, but people always gave her a donation. She was still performing this service until her recent illness. She had a great love for her family and friends and enjoyed helping other people. She loved receiving all of her telephone calls and got a great pleasure in going out to eat every first Thursday of each month with her retired nursing friends at local restaurants in Buford for breakfast and fellowship. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Buford where she only missed two Sundays in 2003. She was a member of the Daisy Shadburn/Bykota Sunday School Class and a member of Abundant Life Fellowship at First Baptist Church. She enjoyed going to Lawrenceville every 4th of July to one of her friend's home to watch the holiday fireworks display. She was an avid Braves baseball fan. She was a lady of dignity, had a lot of pride and loved everyone and was loved by everyone. On her 90th birthday she was honored with a birthday celebration at the Buford Civic Center where over 450 guests attended to congratulate her with best wishes and love. She wanted to live to be "100". During her recent stay in the hospital she would tell the doctors that she wanted to live a long time. Their reply to her was "You have", then her reply to them was "Not long enough". During her illness, she was surrounded by her family and friends at her bedside. She will be greatly missed by her family, extended family, friends and all who knew her.
