Onawa, Iowa - Douglas Eugene Broer, 37, of Omaha, formerly of Onawa, passed away Saturday 20 Oct. 2007.
Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday a John A. Gentlemen Pacific Street Chapel in Omaha. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 7 to 8 p.m. & a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Doug was born 14 Aug. 1970, in Onawa, to Eugene & Nancy (Archer) Broer. He attended West Monona High
School before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force in 1988. He served on active duty as a satellite / wide - band communications technician for 8 years.
He continued his service as a Air Force Reservist with the 133rd Test Control Squadron for 11 years.
He served in Desert Shield / Desert Storm as well as the Kuwait Liberation.
On 7 Dec. 1991, he married Debra Cathleen Moorhead
at Homestead AFB., Fla. He was a beloved & dedicated father to his 2 daughters, Dana & Dawn. He later attended Wayland Baptist University, where he earned a dual major in business management & electronic communications. In addition, he earned his community college of the Air Force degree in applied science for electronic. He was employed by Cricket as a network operations supervisor.
Besides his family, his passions were camping, hunting, fishing, hiking, canoeing, any outdoor adventure & sharing that passion with his daughters. He loved history & taking his children to museums to share his love of the history of our country. It was important to him, his girls understood & appreciated the outdoors, history & patriotism, These were all things near & dear to his heart & the values he lived by.
He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Debi of Omaha; his daughters, Dana & Dawn; his parents, Gene & Nancy Broer of Turin, Iowa; a sister, Ranae
Broer of Onawa; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, & cousins; his wife's family; & numerous friends.
He was loved & admired by everyone who knew him & the loss of this great man will be sadly missed.
