"Eldred 'Casey' Broeder 1930-2008

Eldred 'Casey' Broeder was born in Phoenix, Ariz., on June 26, 1930, to Duett (Doggett) and Paul H. Broeder. He was the youngest of six children, including Pauline -who died from pneumonia at the age of eight; Marie-deceased; Paul -deceased; Bernarr "Barney" (Charlotte), who survives him; and Dale - deceased. He was better known as "Casey," a nickname from the railroad hat he had found and wore in childhood.

Casey married Mary Frances Poe in 1956, and together they had two sons, Chuck (Carol) Broeder of Willcox, and Jim (Maritza) Broeder of Miami, Fla. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Jason (Kimberly) Broeder; Jennifer (Trent) Chaney; Elizabeth Ann Broeder; and Sarah Rose Broeder; and two great-grandchildren, Joshua Paul Broeder, and Hunter Trent Chaney.

On Aug. 11, 1986, Casey married Betty Ruth Gragg, who preceded him in death on Aug. 6, 1996. He is also survived by Betty's children, Billy Bob "Sonny" (Brenda) Williams, Debra (Eddie) Garcia, Linda Williams, and Steven (Tosha) Williams.

Casey is also survived by Betty's grandchildren, April Williams, Ashley Williams, Lisa (Paul) Greenfield, Aaron (Lori) Silva; Zachary, Benjamin, Emmalee and Tessa Williams; and great-grandchildren Andy, Tirzah, Aryana, and Aaron, Jr.

Casey served our country in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He was employed at Salt River Project (SRP) for 44 years and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), Local 266. He was also a member of the Scottsdale Masonic Lodge, the Roadrunner Prospectors Club, The Last Man Club, and the Phoenix Museum of History.

Casey was taken from his family and went home to be with His Lord on Jan. 30, 2008, in Phoenix. He was laid to rest at Resthaven Park Cemetery in Glendale, Ariz, next to his wife Betty."
