Richard E. Broadwater Sr., 80, of East Road 600N died at 5:35 p.m. Friday, March 24, 2000, at Columbus Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Mr. Broadwater was a World War II Army veteran. He retired in 1981 from Cunningham Patterns where he was a pattern maker. He was also a former emergency medical technician.
Mr. Broadwater was a member and past master of Latonia Masonic Lodge in Covington, Ky., a member of First Baptist Church, Indianapolis Valley of the Scottish Rite, American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a former barber shop quartet member.
Funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Myers Funeral Service, Reed and Jewell Chapel, with the Rev. Jon A. Carlstrom officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. until service time Tuesday. A Masonic memorial service will be conducted at 5 p.m. Monday by members of St. John's Masonic Lodge. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation.
Mr. Broadwater was born in Youngstown, Ohio March 5, 1920, the son of Raymond and Bessie Caladine Broadwater. He married Alberta Black Jan. 4, 1940, in Norwood, Ohio. She died June 21, 1994.
Survivors include a son, Richard E. Broadwater II of Columbus; a daughter, Cheri Lynne Hart of Columbus; a sister, Audrey Jean Walling of Kennabridge, Va.; granddaughters, Lori Hart Goode, Stephani Broadwater Thompson, Mandi Hart Calhoun and Kerri Broadwater Growe all of Columbus; and nine great grandchildren.
