Marilynn Jane Bouters

Marilynn Jane Bouters, 82 of Boyne City passed on into a more peaceful place on
Thursday, January 28, 2010 at Grandvue Medical Center in East Jordan. She was surrounded by her loved ones at the time of her passing. Marilynn Jane Broadhurst entered the world in Watervliet, Michigan on March 27, 1927, the first of eight children born to Frank and Frieda (Mundt) Broadhurst. Her subsequent siblings included five brothers; Arthur, Herb (deceased), George, Robert, and Walter (Skip) Broadhurst, as well as sisters; Arlene Broadhurst, and Rose Marie (the late Rex) Treece.
During the latter days of WWII, Marilynn worked as a telephone operator and instructor for Michigan Bell Telephone in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Having left her job there for a PBX position at Montgomery Wards in Kalamazoo, she met her future husband, Army Tech. Sergeant Myron D. Bouters. They were married on June n, 1947. After having shared thirty years of marriage, the then Rev. Bouters passed away suddenly in August of 1977.
The Bouters marriage produced two children, both who remain; Richard Lee (Gayle) Bouters of Boyne City, and Marsha Diane Bouters (Debra K. Meert), also of Boyne City. Also remaining are two grandsons, Christopher (Melissa) Bouters of Boyne City, and Timothy (Janese) Bouters of Lansing.
Marilynn's three great-grandsons have been an utter joy to her in the short time she got to know them. They include Tyler James Bouters (8), Samuel JD Bouters (4), and Alexander Richard Bouters (2). Their parents are Chris and Melissa Bouters.
In addition to her husband, Marilynn was also predeceased by her parents, Frank and Frieda Broadhurst, her brother Carlysle (Herb) Broadhurst, as well as a special brother- in-law, Rex Treece of South Carolina. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and their families.
Marilynn touched many hearts in her 82 years, and truly never met a stranger. She will be sorely missed, but her light will continue to shine through her numerous accomplishments.
Her life will be celebrated during a funeral service that will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, February 1, 2009 at the Stackus Funeral Home in Boyne City, Rev. David Behling will officiate. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday from 3-5 p.m. Interment will be in the spring at Maple Lawn Cemetery in Boyne City.
