Robert H. Broadbelt, 87, of Manasquan, died Saturday, Oct. 30, 2010 at Virtua-West Jersey Hospital in Marlton, NJ. Born in Gloucester City, NJ, he has lived in Manasquan since 1951. Mr. Broadbelt was an Engineering Design Draftsman for the US Army Electronic Command in Ft. Monmouth for 37 years before retiring. He holds 2 patents in the United States & Canada. He contributed to the design of military communications, surveillance equipment and related components. He was a WWII veteran of the United States Marine Corps and was a member of the Manasquan United Methodist Church, the church choir and the United Methodist Men's Club. The Manasquan Board of Education in the early 1960s and was Committee Chairman of the Kiwanis in Manasquan. Robert attended Murray State College, KY, the University of Georgia and various Marine flight schools.
Mr. Broadbelt was predeceased by his wife, Margaret "Peggy" in 1998 and is survived by 1 son, Curtis R. & his wife Regina of Cherry Hill, NJ; 1 daughter, Kathleen M. Broadbelt Kalmar & her husband John of Burke, VA; 4 grandchildren, Kristopher Broadbelt & his wife Nancy, Mark Broadbelt & his wife Debreen, Brad Kalmar & his wife Marisa and Tiffany Kalmar; 2 great grandchildren, Oliva & Quinn Broadbelt.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, November 2, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00pm at the Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, 39 South Street, Manasquan, NJ. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at 11 am at the Manasquan United Methodist Church in Manasquan. Interment will follow at Atlantic View Cemetery in Manasquan.
