Vivian L. Auxier
Vivian L. (Brizendine) Auxier, 95, St. Joseph, passed away Saturday, January 15, 2011. She was born November 22, 1915, in St. Joseph. Vivian graduated from Benton High School and Platt College of Business.
Vivian married Earl W. Auxier on April 6, 1950, and together they shared 61 years of a wonderful marriage. Earl survives of the home.
Prior to their marriage, she worked at Cecil Baker Commodities Firm at the Stockyards Exchange for several years while Earl was at war. After marriage, she became a homemaker. Vivian returned to work in later years as the secretary of Lake Contrary School, retiring in that position.
Vivian was a member of Hyde Valley United Methodist Church, very involved in church activities and charities, Sunday School, and enjoyed attending the weekly church Quilters Club. She was very active in United Methodist Women and the Joy Circle of the church.
Vivian was an excellent cook and everyone wanted a piece of her pineapple pie at church dinners.
Vivian was proud to be a charter member of the St. Joseph Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi and received awards for her dedication and length of membership.
Vivian was a wonderful wife, devoted mother and grandmother, never missing any activities in her children's or granddaughter's life.
She was admired for her upstanding poise and was always considered a lady by all.
Vivian was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Irene Brizendine; her sister, Pauline Wickham; step-grandson, Michael Hunter; and her son-in-law, Terry Fitzmaurice.
Survivors include son, Bryan Auxier and wife Barbara; daughter, Debbie Fitzmaurice; and granddaughter, Bryn Fitzmaurice; step-grandchildren, Sean Fitzmaurice, wife Janet and children; Kelly Fitzmaurice-Dock and husband, Ryan; and Vicki Hoffman and children.
Memorial Service: 10 a.m. Tuesday at Meierhoffer Funeral Home. Interment: Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Hyde Valley United Methodist Church.
