Elphreda Brittenum Seymour, 77, died Wednesday, July 13, 2005, at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis. She was a member of Mt. Pisgah CME Church in Memphis, where she was a stewardess and choir member. She was a graduate of Lemoyne Owen College and the University of Memphis. She was a member of Zeta Phi Beta Inc. She taught in the Memphis City Schools for more than 39 years. She also worked for the Memphis Park Commission. She was the widow of James A. Seymour Sr.
Survivors include a daughter, Natalie Jones Catchings of Memphis; a son, Nathan Jones III of Memphis; a sister, Hattie Brittenum Tuggle of Memphis; a brother, Lonnie Brittenum Jr. of Vacaville, Calif.; five grandchildren, Natalyn Jones, Neili Jones, James Catchings Jr., Nia Catchings and Nansa Jo Catchings.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11:55 a.m. Tuesday at the church. There will be no viewing after the eulogy. Services will be at noon Tuesday at Mt. Pisgah CME Church in Memphis with the Rev. John D. Pasley officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery in Memphis. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home of Holly Springs is in charge of the arrangements.
