Flois was born May 15, 1921, in Turkey, Texas on a dry land farm to Perry and Maude Cogdill. For the past three years, Flois has been a resident of the Grants Good Samaritan Center where she was cared for by a loving staff. Flois was the wife of "Brother George Brittain" and was a fellow minister with him for the people of Grants for many years. She and Brother George were married Oct. 1, 1938 in Childress, Texas and moved to Grants in 1954.
Flois was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Brother George Brittain; and grandson, Jody Brittain.
Flois is survived by two sons, Larry Brittain and wife, Barbara, of Artesia, and Bob Brittain and wife, Judy, both of Grants; grandchildren, Lora Brittain of Kansas, Mike Brittain of Edgewood, Rick Brittain of Albuquerque, David Brittain of Rio Rancho; and step-grandchildren, Toby Brittain of California and Angie Gregory of Rio Rancho; and, 19 great-grandchildren who loved their "Nonnie."
Services to celebrate the life of Flois Brittain will be held at the First Baptist Church of Grants at 224 Mountain Road on Monday, July 23. There will be an open casket viewing from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. with the funeral service to begin at 10 a.m.
Internment will follow at Grants Memorial Park. Officiating at the services will be Pastor Rick Brittain from "The Way" Baptist Church in Albuquerque and music will be provided by the Brittain family.
Donations may be given to the "George Brittain Scholarship Fund" of the Western Baptist Association, P.O. Box 2496 Milan, NM 87021.
