Howard L. Brittain passed away Friday, April 11, 2008, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. He was born on November 5, 1920, to Margaret and Phillip Brittain. Howard married Frances Ann (Tonjes) Brittain on July 27, 1946. Howard was a veteran of World War II. Howard worked as a salesman for Erikson Office Supply, McManus-Troup, Remco, Schenley Industries and owned The Pen Shop in the Spitzer Arcade until retiring in May, 1983. Howard was an avid sports fan, a member of many bowling and golf leagues; he especially loved the Cleveland Indians and the Ohio State Buckeyes. Howard is survived by his son, Jerry (Terri) Brittain of Sun City West, AZ; daughters, Carol Allen of Northwood and Pamela Round of Toledo; also 5 grandchildren, Thomas (Pam) Brittain of Ranier, OR, Christopher (Brittnay) Brittain of Gresham, OR, Christopher Allen of Toledo, Stefanie (Steve) Anderson of Grand Rapids, OH and Steven Round of Toledo and sister-in-law, Theresa Watson of Toledo. Howard is also survived by his 7 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Ann and his parents. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, April 20, 2008, at the Club Room at The Wellington Apartments (main entrance) at 4312 N. Holland-Sylvania Avenue, Toledo, visitation with the family until 4 p.m. Dad taught us: "You were born with one thing a clean name and you will die with one thing your name, keep it clean." That is how Dad lived. Donations can be made to the National Kidney Foundation, Hospice of Northwest Ohio or the donor's choice.
