Mary Ada (Brittain) was the daughter of Seth Brittain and Lucy D. Farris. She married Hiram Isaac Allen on 25 January 1917 in Madison County, Iowa.

Funeral services for Mary Ada Allen, 94, will be held Wed., Oct. 21, at 1:30 p.m. at Collins Funeral Home in Winterset. Mrs. Allen died October 18, 1992 at Bethesda Care Center. The funeral will be officiated by the Rev. David Bauer and burial will be at North McDonald Cemetery.
She was born in Madison County on January 20, 1909, to Seth and Lucy (Landers) Brittain. She married Hiram Allen on January 25, 1917, in Madison County. She was a lifelong resident of the county and was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary and the Town and Country Club. She also was a member of Worthington United Methodist Church.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; a daughter; two brothers and two sisters.
Surviving relatives are a son, Homer Allen of Winterset; a son-in-law, Clarence McDonald of Winterset; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Memorial contributions may be sent to the North McDonald Cemetery Association.
