She was a daughter of Caroline Walker Britt and Elon Britt.
She was born on her father’s farm on Aug. 20,1920. Mrs. Adams attended Whitworth College and graduated from CopiahLincoln.
In her childhood days, she developed a lifelong love of all things outdoors, especially plants and flowers. She and her husband, Luther Roy Adams, planted and cared for hundreds of azaleas and camellias at their home on Meadowbrook Drive.
Throughout her life, her role as wife, mother, and daughter kepther busy. She had also been associated with W.B. Gregg Company. Mrs. Adams was an active participant in numerous church, neighborhood and community activities.
Following the death of her husband, Roy, in 2007, she moved to Memphis and enjoyed spending time with her family.
She resided at Carriage Court Assisted Living Community, where she made many dear friends. Her interests in later life included spending time with her great grandchildren and nurturing her flowers and plants.
Mrs. Adams is survived by her daughter, Laila Adams Eckels; her granddaughter, Amanda Adams Eckels Goetze; her greatgrandchildren, Madeline Gwinn Adams Goetze and Richard Harrison Goetze, all of Memphis; and her brother, Henry Alcus Britt, of San Diego,Calif.
Visitation will be held at the First Baptist Church in Brookhavenon Monday, Sept. 27, at 11 a.m. Burial will be
private.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or Rhodes College.
Brookhaven Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
