Evelyn Beatrice Lyon Britt of Houston, TX passed away August 6, 2012. She was born in Wilkes County, NC, October 9, 1923. She graduated from the first class of Charlotte Memorial School of Nursing in Charlotte, NC as a R.N. She worked in New York City, Florida and for the U.S. Army Quarter Master during WWII in Charlotte. After marrying Sam on April 14, 1950 they moved to Timbergrove where they enjoyed lifelong friendships on Worthshire Street and always found an occasion for a good party. Evelyn was a member of St. Mark's Methodist Church and a faithful employee of St. Luke's Hospital for 28 yrs. She was preceded in death by her father N.F. Lyon, mother Letha Eaton, brother Jesse Lyon, and beloved husband of 57 yrs. Samuel S. Britt who died 5 yrs. ago on the same day as she. She is survived by brother-in-law Julian Britt and wife Colzie (who lived next door to Sam and Evelyn for 60 yrs), son, Thomas Britt and wife Judy, daughter Debbie Holzheauser and husband Steve and grandchildren Becky and Travis Britt and Justin, Brittany and Craig Holzheauser. Visitation will be Thursday, August 9th at Heights Funeral Home from 6-8pm. Funeral services will be at 10am Friday, August 10th at Heights Funeral Home. Interment will be at Memorial Oaks Cemetery. Special thanks to the nurses at Methodist Hospital and the Houston Hospice House. The family request donations to Houston Hospice 1905 Holcombe, Houston, TX 77030.
