John Lindsay Briscoe of Eugene died July 8 of age-related causes. He was 89. No service is planned.
He was born Oct. 2, 1921, in West Plains, Mo., to Francis and Mary Patten Briscoe. He married Elizabeth Harmon on Jan. 1, 1992, in Aitutaki in the Cook Islands.
He attended public schools in West Plains and earned a bachelor's degree in architectural engineering from Oklahoma State University. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a second lieutenant. He was professor emeritus of architecture at the University of Oregon.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, James of Palo Alto, Calif., Paul of Dallas, Ore., and Trevor and Brandon, both of Eugene; four daughters, Barbara Hanna of Palo Alto, Elizabeth Brookings of Sandpoint, Idaho, Cynthia Foster of Alberta, Canada, and Marcella Madsen of Harrisburg; three sisters, Mary Jo Riesberg of Florida, and Betty Dine Briscoe and Pricilla Briscoe, both of West Plains; two brothers, James of Longmont, Colo., and Robert of State College, Pa.; and eight grandchildren.
