Mildred was born October 8, 1919, in Howell County, Missouri. She grew up and attended schools in Howell County. On April 6, 1936, she married Hershel Grant Johnson in Hebron, Missouri. They became, over the years, the proud parents of 7 sons and 5 daughters. They moved to Wilder, Idaho, in 1952. Mildred was the matriarch of a very large, happy and loving family. She spent most of her life loving and raising her 12 children, 36 grandchildren, and 51 great-grandchildren. Mildred was an avid gardener all her life. In her spare time, she was also a master craftswoman in embroidery, crocheting and quilting. Over the years, she won enough Owyhee County Fair blue ribbons to cover an entire wall in her sewing room. She was also fond of collecting salt and pepper shakers and had more than 1,000 sets. Mildred was an active member of the Assembly of God Church, and was very strong in her faith in Christ. She was an inspiration to everyone and was our hero.
Mildred is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law: Ann Rutledge of Meridian, Lela and Fred Aspiazu of Nampa, Lena and Lewis Tucker of Hermiston, Oregon, Linda and Clint Neilson of Homedale; and sons and daughters-in-law: Ray and Louise of Phoenix, Arizona, Lee and Jewell of Wilder, Jerry and Donna of Caldwell, Everett of Phoenix, Arizona, Don and Deanna of Caldwell, Joe and Amy of Eagle, and David of Greenleaf; plus all 36 grandchildren and 51 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Hershel, and daughter Wanda Sue. Bless the Lord, oh my soul, and all that is within me, bless His Holy Name.
