A native of Washington County, Mr. Briscoe was born Sept. 11, 1898 to James and Cora Bush Briscoe. He was united in marriage to Hopal Matthew on Aug. 23, 1919 and she survives.
Other survivors include eight sons, Wilbur, James, Walter(bus), Robert, and Basil, all of Mitchell, Louis and Leroy, both of Bedford and Richard of Lawrenceville, Ill.; four daughters
Mrs. Ruby Smith amd Mrs. Bonnie Duncan, both of Bedford, Mrs. Fern Watson of Mitchell and Miss Frances Briscoe, at home; 14 grandchildren and two brothers, Fred of Mitchell and Harold of Lafayette, Ill.
He was a retired employee of Lehigh Portland Cement Company and a member of the First Christian Church of Mitchell and the SportsmanClub, also of Mitchell.
Funeral services will be at 2 P.M. Friday at the First Christian Church with Rev. Donald Weston officiating. Burial will be in the Mitchell Cemetery under the direction of the Chastain Funeral Home of Mitchell.
